THERE IS A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING IN FRANKLIN COUNTY
Lead Acid Batteries
State law banned lead acid (car) batteries from landfills on January 1, 1995. Residents are encouraged to get the merchant to recycle the old lead acid battery when purchasing a new one.
NAPA, Car Quest and O’Reilly Auto Parts will accept lead acid batteries free of charge and recycle them.
Appliances
On July 1992, the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio Sanitary Landfill began segregating and recycling appliances. An additional disposal fee is charged to cover the extra labor and recycling costs. Residents can take their unwanted appliances to Central Ohio Auto Parts, Bargain House, Joyce Scrap Iron and Metal or Phillips Services.
Recycling
Most of the residents in Franklin County have access to drop-off or curbside recycling programs. The City of Columbus provides curbside bulk and yard waste pick up to residents without an additional charge. Columbus Residents can contact Rumpke, Inc. and pay a fee for curbside recycling or take recyclables to one of SWACO’s 225 Recycling Drop off locations free of charge.
